Aoife Reilly was born in Galway, Ireland, on November 11th, 1991. She was the daughter of Stacy Thomas and Daithà Reilly. Her mother worked as a teacher in Mercy Primary School. Her father worked in a small family farm 25 kilometers outside Galway.
Aoife was enrolled in SALI Childcare at the age of three. She was always cheerful with her classmates and didn’t cause too much trouble. At the age of six, she was enrolled in Mercy Primary School, where her mother worked. Aoife was quite attentive in class and mostly earned good grades. At recess, she would spend time chatting with her classmates, especially about Gaelic football.
On December 14th, 2007, her brother Seán was born. Aoife was so excited to have a smaller brother to interact with. Her parents frequently reminded her that she had to play a key role in taking care of him, as well as serve as a role model.
When Aoife turned twelve years old, her parents enrolled her in Galway Educate Together Secondary School. She performed well academically and became friends with several of her classmates. People naturally wanted to be around Aoife because she had a very charismatic and affable demeanor which brightened up their day.
After graduating from secondary school, Aoife considered what to do with her life. Eventually she decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
During her stay in university, Aoife applied online for the Cosaint Shibhialta (Civil Defence) in Ireland as a volunteer to give back to the community. During her years enrolled at university, she also attended the Civil Defence College, where she learned about medical care, search and rescue, the auxiliary fire service, radiation monitoring, community assistance and communications, and welfare. She specialized as a dog handler in the Victim Recovery Unit and joined the Galway Civil Defence as a volunteer. Aoife worked closely with An Garda SÃochána (Irish National Police), the Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service in different emergency operations. This experience allowed her to learn and hone a whole host of skills. As a result of this experience, Aoife matured as a person and built up her résumé for any future job prospects.
During her third year, Aoife took part in an exchange program with the University of Los Santos San Andreas (ULSA). Luckily for her, she had U.S. citizenship thanks to her mother being American. During her stay in the United States, Aoife thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She felt very integrated into American society, so much so that she was determined to return once she finished her studies in Ireland.
Upon graduating at age 22, Aoife resigned from her position as a volunteer and bid farewell to her family in Ireland. It was a heart-wrenching moment in her life. Aoife boarded a plane to Los Santos, San Andreas in search for a life-changing adventure.
Aoife landed in the States and hooked up with the friends she made in ULSA. They allowed her to stay in an apartment while she looked through different job offers. Settling in was quite a seamless process for the young-aspiring woman. Aoife was used to adapting to changing circumstances, a skill which she picked up during her tenure as a volunteer. After a couple of weeks of searching, she secured a stable job as a nurse at The Bay Care Center in Paleto Bay. She worked there for approximately two years before reaching the conclusion that developing a career as a nurse didn’t quite appeal to her.
Still not figuring out her future quite yet, Aoife decided to try becoming an entrepreneur. She resigned from The Bay Care Center and purchased two businesses in Paleto Bay: a liquor store and an arcade. She put all her savings into that, along with taking a bank loan. Her parents also contributed financially. This experience added a lot to Aoife’s growth as a person, but would equally prove to be too much for her to handle. In the end, she sold the liquor store and hired staff members to regularly run the day-to-day business of the arcade while she observes and learns.
Almost everyone in the community was welcoming to her. She befriended the employees, especially Nyra Lason. As the situation slowly stabilized, money began coming in, and she was able to make good on her loan payments. Aoife opted to give her previous work in the emergency responding career path another try, applying as a volunteer in the Los Santos Fire Department. She served from the Paleto Bay Fire Station while also running the arcade. Aoife's situation began to improve and stabilize. She reached positions of command within different divisions to the point that it made sense for her to transfer to a career position. Her experienced arcade staff kept the business running while she focused her efforts more in the Fire Department.
Aoife is currently seeking a new challenge. During her tenure in the Fire Department, she has served as a Fire Captain for enough time to experience the CO life to the fullest. Unfortunately, she felt like she reached a plateau in her career. Her personal and professional growth stopped there. She didn't feel like progressing any further. In her mind, she was doing the job just out of obligation. Transitioning to the role of a fire marshal can provide her new responsbilities, revive her passion, and give her the opportunity to chase her personal and professional growth once again.
In addition, during her time as a firefighter she developed an interest in fire investigation and prevention. Nowadays, she has a natural inclination toward analyzing fire incidents, identifying the causes, implementing strategies to prevent future occurances. However, a firefighters’ involvement in that is just minimal if existing at all. Becoming a fire marshal would allow her to focus on this area of expertise and contibute as much as possible toward improving fire safety practices and preventing fires.
Another reason for her is having a better balance between work and personal life. As a Fire Captain, she experienced extremely tight and challenging work schedules. The way firefighters work isn’t easy for everyone. Doing 24 hours and 48 hours shifts can drain a person out. She ended up feeling like her captain duties deprived her from her social life and took away most of her friends.
Moreover, she has a good portion of the required skill set for the job. During her time in the Fire Department, she developed a great deal of knowledge about fires and their causes. She also developed a great deal of leadership skills, managing staff, and working as a coherent team. Aoife would like to utilize her skill set in this Department. A transition between careers would be much smoother for her.
Finally, she has a strong commitment to the safety of the communtity. Since day she arrived, she has developed a strong connection to this City and its community, especially the community of Paleto Bay. Becoming a fire marshal would expand her impact from emergency responding to implementing preventive measures that work long-term. Preventing fires, eduating the public about fire safety, is her sole motivation right now. She wants to make a lasting difference and to keep the whole community safer.
