State Fire Marshal Employment Process
Section 1: Foreword and Warning
The Office of the State Fire Marshal is responsible for enforcing fire prevention laws in the state of San Andreas, as well as conducting arson investigations and enforcing the Health and Safety Code.
State Fire Marshals are sworn peace officers, and, as such, have the ability to enforce the entirety of the Penal Code across the state of San Andreas. However, this is not to say that the standard day to day job as a Fire Marshal will constitute such business.

If you are desiring an agency where you are free to patrol as you please and enforce the penal code, and where action such as pursuits and shootouts are rife, then the State Fire Marshal is not for you.

There will be some days where work is overwhelming - many inspections to be completed, many reports of businesses operating unsafely, and perhaps a multitude of fires occuring - or receiving intelligence from the public that must be addressed. There will be many others where... not much at all happens, and for this reason, we recommend that applicants do not see the State Fire Marshal as a full-time roleplay opportunity, despite it being a full-time job. This is not to say, however, that the character you spend the most time on cannot be a Fire Marshal.

Section 2: When does Recruitment open?
Recruitment for the State Fire Marshal is open whenever there is neither a backlog of applicants to be processed, nor too many Marshals employed by the agency. If Recruitment is closed, please do not submit an application as it will not be considered. Likewise, please do not contact members of the agency for an estimate on recruitment reopening. We are all only human.

Section 3: What do I need to become a Marshal?
Dual-faction permission must be acquired from the other faction that you are applying from, if you are in another faction. For the reasons stated in the foreword, we allow almost everybody dual-faction permissions, however, on rare occasions, it may be denied on whichever basis Command sees necessary. It is recommended that you do so before asking us for permission of our own (although it is not required to get the other faction's permission first), as different factions have different rules and regulations regarding the permissions they themselves will allow.

If applying on the same character, you do not have to resign from your previous duty before applying for the Office of the State Fire Marshal, but will be expected to do so once you have accepted your job offer if you receive one.

Section 4: The Recruitment Process
Once you have met the requirements set out in the application document, and provided recruitment is open, you may submit your application to the Recruitment team. After an application is marked as received, the Recruitment team will process your application in a multitude of stages, including but not limited to: criminal and background checks, roleplay quality checks, and liaison with previous factions regarding conduct both OOC and ICly.
Once a positive consensus has been reached within the Recruitment and Command team, you will be invited for an interview at our Rockford Hills Headquarters. After this, your responses will be considered by the Recruitment and Command team once again. If you are successful, you will be offered a role as a Probatioanry Deputy Fire Marshal.

If you contact Agency Command or Recruitment about the progress of your application unless prompted (e.g. the passage of a specific timeframe, or to elaborate on an issue), you will be instantly denied, and a potential ban may be placed on reapplication. The same applies for attempting to convince a member to change the outcome of the recruitment process in your favour for whatever reason.

Section 5: Progression
As a Deputy Fire Marshal on Probation, you will be expected to complete in full a training course led and supervised by the San Fire Recruitment & Training Division.
You will also be expected to be accompanied to at least five inspections and one investigation, and supervised when necessary, before you are able to progress into the role of Deputy Fire Marshal. When you reach this role, you will be able to join an internal division of the agency, as well as conduct duties without accompaniment. However, more often than not, Fire Marshals will conduct duties in the company of one another - a supportive and team-based attitude is necessary to belong in the faction. We pride ourselves highly on our quality of service and professionalism and these are qualities we actively seek in our Marshals present and future.

The structure of the agency is as follows, with script equivalents in double brackets:

Deputy State Fire Marshal Trainee
The following paygrade serves for a Deputy State Fire Marshal Trainee
  • $60,000 after completing the recruitment process serviced by the State Fire Marshals and hired as a Probationary Fire Marshal (($48,000))

Deputy State Fire Marshal
The following paygrade serves for a Deputy State Fire Marshal
  • $89,000 after passing the Probationary Period for the State Fire Marshals (($54,000))

  • $114,000 base salary (($60,000))

Deputy State Fire Marshal III

Assistant State Fire Marshal
The following paygrade serves for the Assistant State Fire Marshal

State Fire Marshal

IRL salaries are noticably significantly higher than those of other agencies. These have been extensively researched (despite the lack of comparison to a "real" agency due to SFM having unique features of many Fire Prevention, Protection and Enforcement agencies across the United States), and all figures have had recent inflation accounted for, alongside the extensive experience that Fire Marshals are expected to portray (and will have had previously). Marshals are reminded that Los Santos is not necessarily an affordable city to live in, so such salaries are not an excuse to roleplay 'rich'.

Section 6: Further Questions and Contact
If you have any further questions about the agency, about recruitment or in general, you are more than welcome to join our public Discord server and request the visitor role. For private matters, you are welcome to contact a member of Command.
