- Keegan Sanders is a 21-year-old African American male who grew up in the tough neighborhood of Davis in the City of Los Santos. Keegan has a deceased sibling named Lashawn, a deceased father named Keith, and a mother named Catherine. Since he was young, Keegan had witnessed the impact of gang violence which had affected how he sees the world, leaving an ineradicable mark on his personality as the death of his sibling and father were caused by gang violence. However, unlike the rest of his peers that grew up within similar rough circumstances, Keegan strived to be better than his peers and has dedicated his energy, unlike his peers, into education and participating in other activities that had drastically improved his social life temporarily. Keegan's mother had turned an alcoholic after the death of her husband and her son Lashawn, then she often physically abused Keegan and mentally destroyed him regardless of how successful he was in his education. However, Keegan was pretty much understanding and tolerated what she has done to him often while not letting her negatively impact his life.
Keegan managed to graduate from high school at the age of eighteen while his peers have grown up just to be sent to state prison for committing a variety of gang-related activities. He managed to get a job at a 24/7 store close to where he lives, in Jefferson, however, that wasn't entirely enough for him to sustain a living and cover the expenses of himself and his mother as he was an underpaid employee despite being a high school graduate. He eventually realized that his education was worthless and that he should find another job to make money to cover their expenses other than being an underpaid employee at 24/7. While Keegan was looking for different jobs, he still kept his career at the 24/7 in Jefferson for a year as it partially covered their needs and he loaned the rest of the money from his friends. He actively looked through the advertisements, hoping to find a job, and had done multiple interviews for multiple positions. Except all that was in vain, it left him extremely depressed that he had even considered suicide. Eventually, Keegan got lucky with one of the interviews for the position of forklift operator at a warehouse in Ocean Docks. He accepted the job immediately as it was paying a little bit better than his previous underpaying job. He maintained the job for two years before realizing that the money that he was making wasn't enough to cover his expenses and the debt that he has to pay to his friends who had helped him in the past couple of years.
Deshawn, his cousin, came to him with an offer: a job that would not only clear his debt but also give him enough money to cover all his bills and needs. He accepted the job offer in a heartbeat. Keegan was hired as a mechanic near one of the shops located in Davis. He soon found out that the money was definitely helpful, but he also kept getting repetitive job offers from his school friend, Keshawn. He realized that the original job offer was to be a drug dealer within the gang-infested neighborhoods of Jefferson, Jamestown, and East Los Santos. He denied the job offer from Keshawn multiple times. He also witnessed his cousin being visited frequently by gang members slinging dope around Davis and asking about his debt. Keegan’s cousin was always late on his payments, which resulted in multiple threats being made to both of them. One day, Deshawn got threatened again at his workplace and lost his mind. He decided to assault one of the members, which led to the members fleeing after fighting with Deshawn. Keegan woke up the next day and found out that his cousin’s workshop had been torched by unknown subjects. He saw several San Fire personnel gathering his cousin’s statement and was impressed by how they operated and tried their best to prevent any further damage in his community. Keegan also gave his statement and decided to befriend the Fire Marshals, asking them for more information about their agency and hiring requirements. After a few months, Keegan was invited to work as a cashier at Rockford Mall after sending his resume there. Keegan decided to take his chances and pursue a life in civil services after attending a few SanFire public events and talking to one of the old Deputy Marshals who had been at the arson scene at his cousin’s workshop. Keegan’s life changed for the better after he started working at Rockford Mall. Enjoying his job as a cashier worker and making some new friends among his colleagues. Also continuing to stay in touch with the Deputy Marshals, learning more about their work and training. He felt good about his decision and believed that he was contributing to his community’s well-being. He also kept away from his cousin and his friend, who remained in the drug business and the gang conflicts. He wished that they would escape their problems, but he understood that he had to concentrate on his own destiny.
