- Daniel Voss was was born in the middle of a torn-up family in San Diego. He was the son of two parents who were always fighting, an abusive father and a heart-broken mother. He grew up in a tough environment. His brother Leonidas was the only light in his life and Sofia, a Greek woman from Kalamata, was the only one who treated Daniel with care and respect, despite the constant arguments she had with her two sons.
They divorced when Daniel was just six years old. While growing up, he spent time jumping in between homes and spending half a week at his father's place and half a week with his mother and brother. Leonidas didn't want anything to do with his dad and lived with his mother and Daniel full time. Daniel's childhood was far from ideal, but his caring brother and loving mother made it easier for him to adapt to the difficult circumstances he faced.
A year later, Daniel's father, Henry Voss, married a new woman. The situation worsened when Henry helped give birth to five new children. Daniel was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Daniel's attempts to bring both families together usually failed. He was the only member of both families that they both liked, but beside him, they wanted nothing to do with each other. Leonidas, for example, wouldn't meet with his half siblings, even if Daniel tried to introduce him to them.
As Daniel got older, his memories of why their mother and father divorced became quite clear. His father was an abusive alcoholic who beat his mother and tried to beat Daniel. However, Leonidas always took the hits for his brother, something which Daniel would gradually understand and appreciate as he got older. Daniel resented his father, but his soft heart always made him forgive.
Years passed and Daniel's life continued to be split up into two households. Leonidas left San Diego and embarked on a journey to Los Santos to find new opportunities. His mother Sophia traveled back to Greece to settle in her hometown. Daniel didn't want to leave San Diego and opted to live with his father and half siblings permanently, or at least until he finishes his school. Daniel spent his days in school simple, studying when needed and in his free time enjoying his all time favorite hobby, painting, his father, enrolled Daniel in a junior firefighter program during summer and holiday of each semester instead of camping trips or fun activities, to 'toughen' him up. Although, Daniel at first hated it, he grew to love it bit by bit.
As he graduated highschool, Daniel got an exciting opportunity to pursue his degree in the university of Los Santos, he instantly agreed and bid goodbye to his family and brothers, at Los Santos, Daniel briefly reunited with his brother Leonidas just before Leonidas also left the city for personal matters. At that time, Daniel focused fully on his studies, choosing a major degree of linguistics and a minor degree of art. He'd spend his summer and holidays and whatever time he has left as a volunteer in the Los Santos fire department, aching for the old days of his junior cadet fire program.
Years pass, Daniel graduates successfully, by that time, his brother Leonidas returns to Los Santos and goes on to become an Engineer. Being inspired, plus having the experience from volunteering, Daniel would start working in the same department along side his brother for 6.5 years, going on to becoming an Engineer himself.
At the end of Daniel's firefighting tenure, he was getting to a stale point in his life, he needed a change especially since his attempts to make it to captain level weren't showing any signs of improvements, his attempts to balance his personal life and his work life failed, he ended up neglecting the people closest to him and his best friends, and finally, his attempts to start a family while him and his fiancée both work as firefighters with the 48 hours shifts schedules, was about to fail. So, Daniel posted his resignation.
He'd try to work art full time for around a month, assisting managing a famous art gallery but even with that, he wasn't feeling fulfilled or satisfied, art has always been a hobby for him, even if he sold paintings or was successful heavily with it before, it still wasn't something he'd do full time, especially not to kill his creativity or passion.
Inspirations came around once again. This time they came from the three of the most important people in Daniel's life. His brother, Leonidas Voss. His bestfriend, Vincenzo Calvani, and his fiancee, Aoife Reilly. Since his departure from FD and those three who happen to all be fire marshals been always spreading a good image to Daniel and advertising the department well for him, he was already keen on joining it due to his firefighting background and his interest in fire investigations and prevention. So, after conversations with all three of them and a few others of his friends in SanFire who have been trying to recruit him for a while, he decided to apply. Not only for that, but also for his passion to continue in a career that also serves the community
