It's hard to believe how quickly 2023 has gone. But, with the arrival of December, we wrap up the year with one last Career Fair to see out the year and get the last recruitment drive of the year underway. Yesterday's event opened up SAN FIRE's Vespucci Training Facility in conjunction with sister agency the Los Santos Fire Department for eager or interested individuals to learn more about the work SAN FIRE and the Los Santos Fire Department does.

The event organized by the Training, Recruitment and Public Relations bureaus was hailed a success as Deputy Fire Marshals, firefighters, EMTs and other employees came together to meet with members of the community to give focus to the daily work the two agencies do in keeping local communities safe as well as share experience of their their careers - A change of pace in many of the peace officers and first responders' daily routine.

Prospective applicants were encouraged to sign up at the event, with recruitment bureau Marshals offering a helping hand as well as all attendees receiving one of the SAN FIRE teddy bears sold by the LS Fire Foundation in aid of the Los Santos Fire Department.

"The Recruitment Bureau is very pleased with the outcome of the latest iteration of our career fair. We believe it achieved the goals we initially set out. The public in general have responded positively and shown genuine interest in our agency. This time around, we were accompanied by the Los Santos Fire Department. We hope that events like these help raise awareness about the department’s mission and boost the number of applications for employment." - San Fire's Recruitment bureau said in a statement to Public Relations.

The event was a group effort, organised by Deputies Leonidas Voss, Aoife Voss and Alex Jorgensen of the Recruitment, Training and Public Relations bureaus respectively. But, all deputies had a hand in making the event what it was. Chief Vincenzo Calvani also spoke to attendees about some of the work San Fire does, speaking of what would lie ahead for those interested;

"Good evening, and thank you for joining us today at the San Fire career fair. I am honored to stand before you as the Division Chief Field Operations of San Fire, an agency that plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. I want to shed light on another essential component of our work—the investigative side of San Fire.

In the face of wildfires, our highly skilled investigative teams play a pivotal role in determining the origins and causes of these destructive events. Their dedication and expertise are instrumental in bringing clarity to complex situations, helping us prevent future disasters and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

Investigating wildfires goes beyond solving a puzzle; it's about safeguarding lives, protecting property, and preserving our natural resources. San Fire's investigative units are comprised of professionals who are meticulous, thorough and dedicated to uncovering the truth. They are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes, piecing together the evidence that helps us understand how and why wildfires occur.

Looking ahead, the need for proficient investigators is on the rise. San Fire recognizes that the quest to prevent and manage wildfires relies on the skills and commitment of individuals like you, even if you lack prior knowledge in the field. Whether or not you have a background in forensic science, environmental science, law enforcement, or any related field, we encourage everyone to apply for a position within our investigative unit. Your dedication can play a vital role in safeguarding our communities from the threat of wildfires.

No doubt Friday's event was a success, not just for SAN FIRE recruitment.
