Ride-Along Program
a
The Office of the State Fire Marshal offers civilians the opportunity to go on a ride-along with a Deputy Fire Marshal to experience their day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. This will allow potential applicants to gain knowledge about fire prevention and safety.

The ride-along will include the following:
• Tour of Rockford HQ & departmental fleet
• Insight of department's bureaus alongside their responsibilities
• County firewatch duties
• Tour of the firewatch towers
Section 1. Ride-Along Program Information, Requirements & Regulations
• All civilians must at least be the age of eighteen (18). Civilians younger will not be considered.
a
• Civilians may not have any felony or misdemeanor charges on their criminal record. Traffic infractions are not included. Ride-along will automatically be denied in that case.
a
• Accepted civilians must wear attire appropriate for the outdoors. Hiking attire may be worn considering the area of the patrols. The following is considered inappropriate attire:
• Tank tops.
• Shorts
• Open Shoes, e.g sandals, flip flops.
• Any type of open shirt.
• Accepted civilians may not carry any type of weapon with them during the patrol. Firearms must be left at their residence for the duration of the patrol. Active serving Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from this rule.
a
• At no point in time may a patrol be live streamed or recorded for the duration of the Ride-Along. Cellular devices are permitted during the patrol, however they must not be actively recording.
a
• At any point of time the civilians may request for the termination of the Ride-Along, where they will then be taken back to the point where they started on the patrol.
a
• Ride-Along requests are approved once the Recruitment Bureau conducts a background check and confirms that the applicant meets the requirements.
a
• Note that the State Fire Marshals reserve the right to terminate a Ride-Along at any point of time should a reason be given to do so.

Section 2. Ride-Along Program Terms and Guidelines
• Any person who wishes to participate in the Ride-Along program is expected to show up in appropriate attire.
a
• In order for any person to participate in the Ride-Along program, they shall call the San Fire landline 4-4-4 in order to request one after having their background check approved. An available Deputy Fire Marshal will reach out to them and schedule a Ride-Along.
a
• For safety concerns during the Ride-Along, the person has to follow all instructions given by their partnered Deputy Fire Marshal as well as remain inside the vehicle at all times unless ordered otherwise by the Deputy Fire Marshal.
a
• The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reserves the right to revoke this permit at any time without notice.

2. Waiver
I, FIRSTNAME LASTNAME, agree by signing this document, acknowledge that the opportunity to participate in the San Andreas State Fire Marshals Ride-Along Program is a privilege and that the assigned Deputy Fire Marshal, may discontinue my participation in the Ride-Along Program at any point of time. I agree to allow a background check to be completed by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. I understand that the Ride-Along Program involves riding in an emergency vehicle being operated by a San Andreas State Fire Marshal who is performing both routine and emergency functions involving Firewatch Operations, as well as responses to potential active fire sites. You will be riding in a vehicle that is emergency response capable, and may be on site should a Fire Marshal respond in the capacity of a Law Enforcement Officer enforcing the State Penal Code and/or San Andreas State Fire Code. This may possibly be a risk to myself, which could result in injury, grievous bodily harm or the possibility of death. I agree that the Office of the San Andreas State Fire Marshal will hold no liability for any incident that may occur, at which I may be injured during the duration of the Ride-Along patrol. I have read the regulations of the Ride-Along Program of the San Andreas State Fire Marshals, and the waiver of liability. I understand the contents of the regulations and waiver of liability, and I sign this document freely.
