Statement on Paleto Bay Fires

We’d like to start this statement by assuring the people of Los Santos, specifically Paleto Bay, that we understand and hear your valid concerns. Members of SANFIRE been working day and night ever since the first fire dating back to 27th of March and a lot of progress has been made on the cases. Unfortunately, as in most cases with arson investigations, not all information can be revealed publicly to avoid compromising the investigation. Most of the time, results get announced after each investigation is concluded, which could take several weeks.

The ongoing Investigations: Currently all fire cases in Paleto Bay are confirmed arson, and they are open and being worked on daily. We’re treating those cases as a high priority and several investigators are involved, a lot of breakthroughs keep occurring. We understand the frustration of wanting more frequent and detailed updates, but as clarified, some matters can’t be revealed to not compromise the investigations or give any possible suspects hints.

Our presence in Paleto Bay: We’re working on increasing our presence in Paleto Bay, currently, our new Paleto Bay SANFIRE Headquarters is under renovation and very soon we'll have regular units actively using it. That will make our response time to any possible fires faster, help us do Firewatch Patrols more often in the area, and overall further guarantee the safety of the people of Paleto Bay in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.

The progress we made so far: We managed to detain a potential suspect related to one of the cases, our Arson Prevention Tactical Team executed a few warrants regarding the cases, and the potential suspect under detainment was then arrested and charged with a crime unrelated to the arson. Our Arson Prevention Team are doing their best to follow up on the leads we currently have to bring a closure to those cases.
