SAN FIRE's July Recruitment Drive Ends
Last Thursday's Academy Session
Sunday culminated in the end of July's Marshal recruitment - The largest group of applicants so far, just behind July 2023's at twelve applicants.
The Recruitment Drive began on July 5th, with a career fair outside the Vespucci Training Facility where prospective applicants could meet with Deputy Fire Marshals to discuss the day-to-day operations of SAN FIRE and ask any burning questions they had about careers with the agency, with applications opening that day - people interested were encouraged to submit an application, whether on their own or with the help of a recruitment officer on hand at the event for the chance at a interview and subsequent invite to an exam and academy session.
Fast forward to the weekend and trainees Esparza, Huang, Williams, Romano and Zavala were given a warm welcome by colleagues from the department as the graduation ceremony was held to swear in the newest Deputy Fire Marshals as well as celebrate their successes and look back on their journey of hard work and dedication through the academy, led by Division Chief Vincenzo Calvani.
Chief Calvani said a few words, as well as welcoming the new trainees thanked colleagues for their support;
"Hello everyone, good afternoon! Today is a special day as we gather to welcome our newest recruits to the department. I want to thank each one of you for being part of this ceremony, where we celebrate our new graduates.
Today marks a significant milestone – the end of hard work and the beginning of a new journey for our fresh group of fire marshals. A heartfelt thank you goes to our recruitment and training units. Both units' tireless efforts ensured our recruits are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead of them. During their time in the academy, these new recruits all showed great dedication and eagerness to learn and gather further knowledge which they are going to use during their daily duties.
To the July 2024 SanFire recruits, congratulations! Each one of you embodies qualities like resilience, bravery, and selflessness. As you step into this noble journey, remember that your dedication serves a higher purpose – the safety of our communities. May courage be your guide in the field, and may your training be a source of strength in challenging situations
You are the frontline defenders, the guardians of our neighborhoods, and we have complete faith in your ability to make a positive impact. I am truly proud to welcome such talented new personalities to our department. Each one deserves this moment and should be honored for all the effort they've put in.."
